Students who complete their apprenticeship in Alberta earn a post-secondary credential that can also give you credit toward other post-secondary programs at some institutions.
Alberta's 47 apprenticeship programs span a wide range of skilled trades. Some trades are more complex than others--and so are their apprenticeship programs. That’s why not every program results in the same credential.
Depending on your program, you could earn one of four types of apprenticeship education credentials. Visit the trade profile for your program to find out which credential you will receive.

Credits from apprenticeship programs can be transferred to some post-secondary programs. For details, go to transferalberta.alberta.ca and search transfers by planned or completed programs from Apprenticeship and Industry Training. For example:
Electricians with a Red Seal are awarded 6.5 credits to Electrical Engineering Technology diploma at SAIT;
Students with an Alberta Journeyperson certification may receive up to 27 credits towards a Diploma in Business Administration - Management at Portage College.
